Having seen a production in Ashland OR, I thought it was better than this production. Theatreworks' production is a competent, professional production but it seemed to lack tension. In the OSF production, one felt the build up of tension and stress in the Mother as well as her apprehension and desperation which was leading to a crisis point with her husband. It just wasn’t there in this production. Also, the MVCPA is way, Way, WAY too big for this show. It should have been done in the Lucie Stern. OSF presented the play in the round in the 250 seat New Theatre which worked much better. The play felt lost in the 400+ seat MVCPA theatre and the stage was just too spreadout. I understand they were trying to go with the idea of overstimulation but all those projections were also just too, too distracting. There was a feeling of hope and acceptance of the child in the OSF production which was lacking here. A mediocre production of a very good and enjoyable play.

By Lisa Loomer

Jesse's got problems. Mom needs to solve them. At school, at home, this plugged-in kid is easily distracted and readily riled—just like his anxious parents, the neurotic neighbors, the clue-challenged doctors, the whole revved-up, wacked-out webcast of modern life. Could it be Attention Deficit Disorder? And what if it is?

Honest, insightful, and hilariously offbeat, this LA/Ashland hit by the author of Living Out is a dramedy for our times, texting for answers in a world too frazzled to text back.
