Under the leadership of dancer and Artistic Director Thérèse Keegan, Updraft Inc. has long been a pioneering force in professional aerial arts performance. Power Up! combines aerial dance on silks and steel with original music, multimedia projections and audience collaboration into an engaging, interactive and cutting-edge work. Swami YoMahmi (Stephon Walker)
Company founder Stephon has been a professional performer for more than 25 years. His diverse talents include acting, physical comedy, magic, stunt work, and stage combat. He is a longstanding member of the popular comedy troupe, Shakespeare’s Skum, and co-founder, with Steve Wannall, of The Pickled Punks BIG MAGIC and Completely Mental shows.
Stephon has performed with improv comedy troupes ComedySportz and Last Ham Standing, appeared on National Geographic's Is It Real?, in the books Weird Virginia, and Carny Sideshows, Skeptical Inquirer magazine, and starred in several commercials. He also performs as Swami YoMahmi in his own one-man sideshow, Unnatural Acts of Comedy. Stephon is a member of Actors' Equity and holds a BA in Theater from Penn State University.
Sally the Cinch
Cheeky Monkey's resident human oddity, Sally has been studying, performing and choregraphing various styles of dance since age 2½, focusing on Middle Eastern Dance for the past 10 years. As for her ability to "cinch"... Sally was just born that way.
Damien Blade (Danny Snyder)
A Guinness Record holding sword swallower and pain-proof man, Danny is a seasoned performer who has amazed audiences around the country. A central feature at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Festival, Danny has trained with sideshow luminaries Todd Robbins and Harley Newman.
The Amazing Trinket (Lisa Oberg)
Lisa’s specialties include contortion, contact juggling, magic, and fire performance. She attended James Madison University and holds a BS in Art, with a concentration in screen printing. An accomplished artist, one of Lisa’s prints is owned by Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Mr. Eon, the Magician (Steve Wannall)
A graduate of St. Mary's College with a BA in Dramatic Arts, Steve has been with the Cheeky Monkey Sideshow from the start. He has performed at the nationally acclaimed Imagination Stage in more than 30 shows, and is a regular performer at the MD Renaissance Festival in the hit comedy troupe Shakespeare's Skum.
In addition to several motion picture and television appearances, Steve has performed in such places as The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, Dusseldorf Germany, and all over the United States. He is a founding member of the original Open Circle Theatre company, the hit improv comedy troupe, Last Ham Standing, the magic duo, The Pickled Punks, (with Stephon Walker), the music duo, Predictable Funk, and the percussion band, Drum Runners. He wants everyone to know, he is not really psychic ... just paying attention.
Mab (Just Mab)
Self-proclaimed monkey lover, freak, sideshow girl, and musician, Mab is an artful glass walker, escape artist, fire eater, and drummer, full of boundless energy and humor. Mab believes that every single person has superpowers. One of Mab's super powers is the ability to find the shortest lane at a toll booth. The other is the ability to walk on broken glass and hammer spikes into her face. Mab is a freak. You probably shouldn't try that at home.
