Description
Celebrating 10 years, EDGEWORKS Dance Theater brings a special showcase to Joe's - featuring the works of EDT company members and guest artists. Led by award-winning choreographer and founding Artistic Director Helanius J. Wilkins, this program will demonstrate the diversity of dance being created by men in American concert dance. Among the choreographers presenting works will be EDT's Assistant Rehearsal Director Nkosinathi "Natty" Mncube.
Described as "an emotional and moving experience" (The Washington Afro-American), the company’s diverse repertory features the work of Helanius J. Wilkins, and works by internationally recognized choreographers Earl Mosley, Kevin Wynn, Troy Powell, and Robert Moses. While encompassing physical extremes, EDT’s body of performance work is both dynamic and diverse. While subtly and not-so-subtly pushing boundaries, it simultaneously challenges and affirms societal perceptions of male identity, revealing strength and vulnerability.
