Pop legend Dionne Warwick, winner of five Grammy Awards, finds her way to the San Jose Center for the Performance Arts as part of the Sister Cities International Annual Conference. Warwick's iconic career started in 1968 with her first Grammy win for "Do You Know Your Way to San Jose" and went on to include 75 hit songs and more than 100 million records sold worldwide. And her career is still going strong: Earlier this month Warwick released a star-studded duets album titled Feels So Good, featuring collaborations with some of today's greatest artists, including Jamie Foxx, Billy Ray Cyrus, Ne-Yo, Gladys Knight, Cee Lo Green and Cyndi Lauper. Hear her sing some of her most memorable tunes, including "Walk on By," "Alfie," "I Say a Little Prayer," "I'll Never Love This Way Again," and many more. Learn More
Greeks, shepherds, betrayal, Gods disguising as bugs, the Can Can: who could orchestrate such a combination other than Jaques Offenbach? See this combination for yourself with Donald Pippin’s English setting of Orpheus in the Underworld.
Known for being more musically audacious than Offenbach’s earlier pieces, Orpheus takes us on a journey from the heights of Mt. Olympus to the depths of Hades’ lair. Orpheus takes place mostly in the glittering ballroom of the underworld, frequented by the Olympian gods there on vacation, eager for a change of pace and ready to let their hair down. The guests also include two well-known mortals, Orpheus and Eurydice, and an indomitable lady who calls herself Public Opinion. Don’t miss out on the fun, but behave yourself—the Gods will be watching!
Starring Pocket Opera favorites Megan Stetson, Sonia Gariaeff, Chelsea Hollow, and introducing Maya Kherani as Eurydice.
