Jackie Payne was already a Grammy-nominated veteran blues singer when he began performing with acclaimed blues guitarist Steve Edmonson. The two share a love for the blues and for the lost art of performance that makes each concert exciting and full of energy. Payne's live shows often match the fervor and intensity of a fire and brimstone gospel revival, while Edmonson's melodic guitar playing channels legends such as B.B. King, Jimmie Vaughan and T-Bone Walker. Learn More

- “A potent combination of deep lyricism, questing creativity and bar-raising virtuosity.” —Ottawa Citizen
A Note From Executive/Artistic Director Peter Williams
I first heard Brad Mehldau when he was in Joshua Redman’s first recorded group, and fell in love with his playing. He’s a lyrical player, with modern sensibilities and influences. He listens to current pop, the Beatles, and loves jazz and classical too. His trio features two great players, Larry Grenadier on bass and Jeff Ballard on drums. This trio is what jazz is all about for me: when the players are listening and reacting to the music together. Mehldau played the Opera House several years ago with Pat Metheny. This will be his first visit with just his trio.
