Legendary jazz saxophonist, Tony-nominated composer and three-time Grammy winner Branford Marsalis joins the acclaimed Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia for Well-Tempered, a performance of Baroque masterpieces by such illustrious composers as Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and Albinoni. Born in New Orleans to one of the most famous families in jazz, Branford attracted attention as a member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and his brother Wynton's quintet before emerging as a top-flight bandleader in the mid-'80s. He was the musical director of The Tonight Show for two years in the '90s, and has collaborated with musicians ranging from Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock and Sonny Rollins to Sting, the Grateful Dead and Bruce Hornsby. My wife liked Simon and Garfunkel and when I saw he was playing, I bought her a ticket (I was out of town). At first she wasn't sure she was going to go but after she couldn't wait to rave about the performance. She said it was one of the best she's ever seen. She came away absolutely thrilled. I was happy that I could have given her a ticket that made her feel this way.
