I attend AA performances twice a year. This performance was not quite up to the excellent standard that I have seen in previous shows. I didn't feel like I was watching a professional dance company this evening.

The Performance was great! I got to see my dear friend Marcus Jarrell Willis. He is one of the newest members of the troupe. The entire group was great. The performance was fabulous! The seats were great! I saw a woman behind me pay full price for the tickets. I gave her the Goldstar website for future event.

Description

Join the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in honoring Judith Jamison's 20th Anniversary at New York City Center. Since she became Artistic Director of the company in 1989, Judith Jamison's vision and passion have taken the company to astounding new heights while continuing Mr. Ailey's pioneering mission to bring African-American cultural expression to the world's greatest stages.

Ailey's season is packed full of goodies: four premieres including Jamison's new work, Among Us (Private Spaces: Public Places) and a Best of 20 Years highlights program. Most performances feature Alvin Ailey's own masterpiece Revelations, about which Oprah Winfrey says, "Every American owes it to him or herself to see the Ailey company perform Revelations. It is an American phenomenon. I've probably seen it countless times and every time it's magical and spiritual and hopeful -- everything we want ourselves to be and hope that our country will be."
