La India "The Princess of Salsa" Heats Up B.B. King Blues Club
Tito Puente, the "King of Latin Music," once declared La India "salsa's princess." Nearly 20 years later, no one is anywhere close to snatching her crown as India comes to B.B. King Blues Club. Breaking into the industry with a string of dance music hits in the '80s, India later switched from "disco diva" to "salsa diva" and found almost instantaneous success in the Latin music world. Blessed with a uniquely captivating voice, this native Puerto Rican has worked not only with Puente, but also with Marc Anthony, Oscar D'León ("The Pharaoh of Salsa") and Tito Nieves ("The Pavarotti of Salsa"). That's not to say her solo efforts have gone unrecognized: All of her solo albums have been certified either gold or platinum. Now India, with multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations to her credit, continues her reign as "The Princess of Salsa" with a powerful live performance.
