Members Who Went Said:A gay rap/hip-hop opera? Who'dathoughtit? An exceptionally entertaining, thought-provoking, and ultimately moving experience performed by two gifted and incredibly versatile actors, who also just happened to write the script. There's nothing like it in New York right now, so do yourself a favor and go see "Bash'd"! And take a homophobe- they just might change their views....
Totally0Random http://www.live365.com/stations/folkswhorock This show was so much fun, and with an important political message too. It was a little heavy-handed at times but so much fun that I really didn't care. And the end was very touching. Certainly one of the more inventive shows I've seen in a long time. The performances were great. The music was catchy and hilarious. I had a great time and would definitely go see it again. And if a cast recording existed, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
JC These guys are extremely talented. Funny, poignant, fast-moving, smart. Communicates an important message, but doesn't force it on you. Not too long or short. Definitely worth seeing. |

Event Highlights
More Details About This Event: BASH'd chronicles the tale of Jack and Dillon; two star-crossed lovers who must cope with the reality of hatred when one is brutally beaten. It is told entirely through rap, spoken word and poetry, turning the often-homophobic musical genre on its ear. Even though the topic is serious, the musical is high energy, irreverent, and provocative.
About Zipper Theater: The Zipper Theater is a renovated Zipper factory that features theatrical productions in addition to a concert series. It's a superb 199 seat venue for performers and audiences - amazing sightlines, great sound, and unusually comfortable seats (most of the seats come straight out of automobiles!). The theater also has its own bar, and management happily encourages the audience to take their drinks with them into the show. |
