Written on Oct 29 2012I did not attend due to the dangers of Hurricane Sandy which is still raging now. Circle Line did not cancel the event. I was told by an employee up at the Octoberfest event that the dock up there at Bear Mountain was flooding. I assumed then that it would be cancelled. We even had a city wide transportation shutdown in NYC! I believe they were willing to put their customers lives in danger! Due to the non-cancellation I lost all my money. I believe Goldstar should step up and issue refunds. I am sure you have insurance for "act of God" situations such as this.
Written on Oct 29 2012After calling the day before, to make sure that the cruise was still happening due to Hurricane Sandy, I was told yes, the trip was still going ahead. Once we got there, everyone checked in, and boarded the boat.Only then, did the captain, mention that the dock at Bear Mountain was under water, so we would not be able to get off the boat, let alone go to Oktoberfest!! At this point, most passengers disembarked, and tried to get a refund. I understand bad weather is nobody's fault, but why didn't they cancel the trip earlier, and/ or issue refund tkts earlier. I didn't appreciate waking up at 6.30am on a Sunday to go to a boat, that clearly was incapable of taking us to the event that I had paid to visit! Still waiting for a refund.....
Written on Oct 29 2012There was a state of emergency in both NJ and NY which should have cancelled this trip. It was both foolhardy and dangerous to go as the return to NYC was scheduled for 5:30. Although this wasn't a problem, since it was not just 'rain' predicted, it was a poor decision for the safety of the passengers and warnings from the governor of ny
Written on Oct 24 2012The cruise was beautiful and on schedule. The temperature downstairs on the boat was way too warm and the crew was not able to adjust it.
Also, there was no water in the restrooms for the last hour of the return trip.
