Bursting with elaborate designs and kaleidoscopic color arrangements, this exhibit in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory at The New York Botanical Garden will delight nature lovers and enchant guests of all ages who love the beauty of nature. With the theme Key West Contemporary, you can step out of the bustling city and straight into the Florida Keys, where the dramatic beauty of a flourishing tropical garden is amplified by vibrant architecture that reflects this particular island's charm and ambience. The Enid A. Haupt Conservatory's sprawling glasshouse galleries are transformed into a modernist Key West estate garden, where an effusion of orchids -- including Vanda (rainbow orchids), Dendrobium (cane orchids) and Cymbidium (Asian corsage orchids) -- bloom among serene geometric reflecting pools, soaring angular pergolas and sleek benches. The ride up to Bear Mountain was great. There were ample amounts of seats aboard the boat. You were able to bring your picnic basket full of goodies for your lunch and breakfast for the day. You had the option of sitting on the inside or the outside of the boat. You had to get there early as people were hoarding seats. Going to Bear Mountain, I sat on the inside of the boat. The scenery was awesome as it is the same scenery that I see when I go upstate to Albany by Amtrak. In spite of it all the tour guide tells us about some of the landmarks that we were approaching.
I didn’t realized that when you arrive at Bear Mountain that you actually have to climb up that mountain. It was a hot day and sweat was dripping from every part of my body. Upon getting up the mountain you venture into a whack Oktoberfest. The only thing that I purchased was four green peppers and an ankle bracelet.
I managed to get back to the boat in time as you had to be back by 3:00 p.m. or there would be another boat to pick you up next week at the same time. We were the first back on the boat and got a seat outside.
Surprising enough when I got home I purchased a beer at an amazing price and enjoyed it. On the boat the price of the beer was $7.00.
There was one incident where this young girl could not hold her alcohol and passed out cold before leaving the boat.
_Boarding begins at 8:30am, and the cruise departs at 9:00am.
The boat returns to Pier 83 at 5:30pm._
_There is a steep hillside trail leading to Oktoberfest.
Admission to Oktoberfest is free. Food, beverage and other items may be purchased on site. As per Circle Line policy, there is no outside food or beverage allowed on the boat._
