Early in his life, A.J. Croce lost his vision as the result of a brain tumor, but between the ages of four and ten partial sight gradually returned to his left eye. During this time period he began to play piano, inspired by the music of blind artists Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder. He started playing professionally at the age of 12 and by age 16 he was a regular at several San Diego nightclubs. He toured with B.B. King at age 18 and released his first solo album the following year. A.J. now has seven albums to his name and has toured with artists as legendary as his father including Carlos Santana, Rod Stewart, Aretha Franklin, Willie Nelson, James Brown and Ray Charles. A great talent in his own right, the younger Croce carries on his father's legacy while paving new musical roads of his own. Learn More

great show as always, tickets at half price help offset the minimum charge to sit at a table, instead of standing all night

Fun, fun, fun! A very energetic bunch with great oldies and newbies :) A little dance floor in front of the stage was a nice touch - nobody can sit still to their music anyway. Show was long enough to get the food, the drinks and the dancing all packed into one evening!

Description

Since arriving on the music scene in 1993 in a legendary residency at Los Angeles' Brown Derby nightclub, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's irresistible live show and aggressive, musically perceptive approach have proven the band to be the singular standout among the numerous bands that launched the '90s swing revival. The seven-man group forged a massively successful fusion of classic American sounds from jazz, swing, Dixieland and big band music, building its own songbook of original dance tunes. Now, almost 20 years later, BBVD is a veteran force that to this day adds new fans by the roomful every time it plays.

BBVD's originals rocketed the group into its first phase of stardom, when "You and Me and the Bottle Makes Three Tonight (Baby)" and "Go Daddy-O" were featured in the 1996 indie film landmark Swingers. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, named famously after an autograph by blues legend Albert Collins, sold more than two million copies of the albums Americana Deluxe (1998) and This Beautiful Life (1999) and received national critical acclaim, while the band's music has appeared in over 60 movies and television shows. With the 2003 New Orleans-inspired album Save My Soul, BBVD began playing in theaters and performing arts centers, selling out shows at the Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Hall, Lincoln Center, Chastain Park, and Constitution Hall, just to name a few.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has appeared as a special guest with the great symphony and pops orchestras of the nation, including its first symphony show with the U.S. Air Force Orchestra. The band's career milestones have included appearances in the Super Bowl halftime show, writing theme music for ESPN and network television, and performing for three American presidents. BBVD has also appeared numerous times on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brian, and Live with Regis and Kelly, and wrote, performed, and recorded the current theme song for the Carson Daly show after appearing multiple times as the show's house band. And now, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's songs have passed into the classic American songbook, playing alongside pop standard songs in film and television, and even on reality competitions like Dancing With the Stars. The band's latest album, How Big Can You Get?: The Music of Cab Calloway, dropped in 2009.
