He's been away for 10 years, but it's good to have Tim back. He was an amazing performer in 1999 and it's great to report that he's only gotten better. Standouts this time, "Lilac Wine" and "Nobody Needs To Know". There's still one more show on Friday -- Go!

Description

Ten years (exactly) from the time he first made a big impression in New York cabaret at the (very) tender age of 17, Tim Draxl is returning to perform in New York.

Tim's story makes his return to cabaret performance in New York an interesting event. Tim,an Australian/Austrian native, came to New York at Eighty Eights in January 1999 ,making him, at seventeen, the youngest performer ever to deliver a full length cabaret show in New York clubs. (There were many jokes about him being old enough to sing, but not old enough to have a drink).

Tim made an exciting and precocious debut, but when he returned nine months later and became the youngest artist ever to perform at the New York Cabaret Convention he really started to make a massive impression, which was enhanced when in 2001 he performed a season at the Firebird Cafe.

During this time, Tim sang on "The Rosie O Donnell Show", won a MAC Award for 'Best Cabaret Debut", and had many of New York's major critics singing his praises. He then went on to record his second album for Sony “Insongniac” (the last completed album musically directed by the late great Peter Matz).

Yet Tim didn’t stay around to continue to work in the art form, after so much attention at such a young age, he turned his attention to movies, and in the ensuing years won acclaim for his co starring lead in films such as "Swimming Upstream" with Geoffrey Rush and Judy Davis, the BBC miniseries "The Shark Net" and the BBC sitcom “Supernova". Then in 2005 he returned briefly to cabaret in Australia in two sell-out seasons culminating in winning the prestigious Sydney Theatre Critics Award for "Cabaret Act of the Year".

Tim moved to Los Angeles and for the last two years has been making movies, with two major movies awaiting release, He will be filming the leading role in the movie "Ivory" in New York with Martin Landau and Beau Garrett, giving Tim the great chance for a brief return to the New York cabaret stage.
