Buried Child: Sam Shepard's Pulitzer-Winning Family Drama

Full Price:
$20.00 - $45.00
Our Price:
$10.00 - $22.50

Set during the rural economic slowdown of the 1970s, playwright Sam Shepard's universally acclaimed Buried Child resonates as strongly today as it did when it launched Shepard's career in 1978. A Pulitzer winner for drama, Buried Child makes for a fierce, forceful and unforgettable portrayal of the realities of the American Dream. The realistic masterpiece mixes comedy and drama, keen commentary and deep emotion in a squalid farm home occupied by a clan filled with suppressed violence, apparent unhappiness and dark secrets. Kenneth Kelleher directs this San Jose Stage Company production. Learn More

Great fun -- both my husband (NOT a musical lover) and I (choreographer and musician) had a great time. I wouldn't recommend it for kids, as much of it will be over their heads, but especially for those over 40 -- who remember the players -- it's well worth seeing. I think it was my husband's favorite show (and we saw several). Carrie Fisher has found a way to maintain her balance, dignity, and sense of humor, and she brought us along on a great ride.

What a wonderful and enjoyable evening! Carrie draws you in to her world as if you were a close friend, spending an evening with her in her living room. Nice intimate connection with the audience. Thoroughly engaging, and always uplifting and humorous.

Years and years ago in Studio City, went to an "all girl slumber party" at Ali Willis' house and Carrie did a hysterical monologue about her father, Eddie Fisher. This is that - to the third power. And, I think she's still wearing the same pajamas. DON'T MISS HER!!!!

Description

Don’t miss Hollywood legend Carrie Fisher’s recounting of a true and intoxicating tale, told with the same wry wit she poured into bestsellers like Postcards from the Edge. Born to celebrity parents Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, this Tinseltown toddler lands among the stars when she’s cast in a little movie called Star Wars.

But it isn’t all sweetness and light sabers: as a single mom, she also battles addiction, depression, mental institutions, and that awful hyperspace hairdo. Fisher’s tale is a tabloid vivant The Los Angeles Times calls a “Beverly Hills yard sale of juicy anecdotes.” Carrie Fisher’s Wishful Drinking is an uproarious look at a Hollywood hangover and a chance to get ‘Carried’ away!
