I just barely made the Champagne Brunch aboard the Historic Schooner Shearwater. I didn't realize how far it was from the subway. That was a nice walk. My directions that I had downloaded had said that it would take 7 minutes to walk to the pier from the subway. It was more like an half and hour as you had to walk to and through the World Financial building. Go down the steps and keep walking in the direction of the boat. Once aboard the boat there were no seats to be found, it just so happen I was going to the park after the cruise so I brought my folding chair. I was able to take a load off my feet and not stand for the whole duration. The brunch was very good but you were only allowed one complimentary champagne after that you were charged $8.00. The small lox finger sandwiches went very quickly. There were an assortment of fruit platters, small finger sandwiches, bagels, chips and dips, an assortment of olives. You were able to drink as much beverages as you wanted except for the Champagne. The bathroom was down below on the Historic Schooner Shearwater. The Historic Schooner Shearwater took you out to the water and the Schooner Shearwater sat on the water not to far from the Statue of Liberty and we ate and it turned around and it sat on the water once again and headed back to deboard at 1:00 p.m. The service was very good. The girls on board that served everyone were very friendly. I would do it again. There wasn't any music aboard the Shearwater.

Try to get on the boat first! Once you find a good seat, the rest is up to the crew. After a quick speech from the captain, we left from the West side and went around Manhattan to just past the Brooklyn bridge where we turned around and headed towards Liberty Island. Once there, we sat for a while and enjoyed the scenery and weather. Food was laid out before we left the pier and drinks were brought to passengers through-out the cruise. We headed back to the pier at about 20 minutes till the hour and we arrived right on-time.

After a brief meeting about safety with the crew brunch is offered.
There is a selection of gourmet sandwiches, bagels, pastry, hummus, chips, fruits. There was plenty to go around and many leftovers. There was also coffee, tea, champagne, mimosa's and some other beverages available. The boat travels south towards statue of liberty for 1 hour and then turns around for the 1 hour journey home. Blankets are provided on cold days and there is the cabin of the boat to also retreat to in the event of inclement weather. It was cold the day we sailed-which was unfortunate for us. In nice weather-I think this cruise would be more delightful.
