The Harlem Gospel Choir, the most famous gospel choir in America and one of the preeminent gospel choirs worldwide, brings the music of Harlem and the black church to Times Square in a joyous celebration of high-energy, hand-clapping singing and dancing. Made up of the finest singers and musicians from Harlem's black churches and the New York/Tri-State area, the choir strives to create a better understanding of African-American culture and make the world a more loving and peaceful place. Allen Bailey was inspired to create the choir in 1986 after attending a celebration at Harlem's Cotton Club in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. That inspiration can be felt in the music today, as the choir's uplifting songs of hope touch the soul and raise the spirit. Description
Over the course of his 30-year career, guitarist and vocalist Coco Montoya’s explosive guitar playing and soul-driven voice have propelled him to the upper reaches of the blues-rock world. From his early days as a drummer to his current status as one of the top-drawing guitarists and vocalists on the blues-rock scene, Montoya has forged his reputation through years of hard work and constant touring.
Tommy Castro's new CD, Hard Believer, will be released on August 11, 2009. Produced by John Porter (Los Lonely Boys, Santana, Buddy Guy, Elvis Costello), the record includes 6 originals by Tommy and interpretations of Wilson Pickett's "99 1/2 (Won't Do)" and Bob Dylan's "Gotta Serve Somebody." Tommy won awards as both the B.B. King Entertainer Of The Year and for Best Contemporary Blues CD awards at the 2008 Blues Music Awards. Blues Wax magazine annually polls their readers to determine Best Blues Artist and Album of the Year and Tommy has won four of these awards in recent years. In 2002 & 2006 he was named Blues Artist of the Year and in 2003 & 2007 he won Album of the Year.
