This was a PERFECT way to spend a hot day in New York City. Great crew, great guests, great trip. It was a little birthday present for just myself! Free Champagne was not available during the daytime cruises, but hey, free cold beer out in the harbor looking at the Statue of Liberty in the sun. What can beat that?

Quotes & Highlights

Description

Experience New York like you never have on this 2 hour sail aboard the Adirondack or the Adirondack III, two wooden 80-foot pilot schooners.  Within five minutes of leaving the dock, you'll forget the mayhem and noise of Manhattan street life, and you'll feel the relaxing breeze of New York Harbor.  You'll take in the famous Manhattan skyline as it was meant to be seen, from the water - plus spectacular views of Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge.  You'll experience the following on your 2 hour sail:

  • Heading south from Chelsea Piers and down the Hudson River to Battery Park, the schooners pass by Ellis Island and sail out to the Statue of Liberty.
  • Wind and time permitting, they will head toward Governors Island, breeze by the Financial District and tease her bow under the Brooklyn Bridge on the East River.
  • Complimentary beer, soda, and water will be provided.
The crew will shut off the engines and set sail for as much of the trip as possible. The fastest resident sail vessels in the New York Harbor are the Schooners Adirondack and Adirondack III.  They held the record  finishes in the Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race for 14 consecutive seasons (1994 - 2007).  Though they are light and lively sailing vessels, they are also quite comfortable, with ample deck space and seating for up to 49. They were built and designed for taking groups of people on spectacular sightsailing adventures by Scarano Boatbuilding of Albany, NY. They are operated by Coast Guard-certified captains and extremely friendly and talented crew.

Please note:

A few rounds will be served  but it is not an unlimited booze-cruise. The aim is to create an elegant, relaxing, peaceful, and safe experience for all guests.

About the Ticket Supplier: Classic Harbor Line LLC

Built in 1994 in the Scarano Boat Building of Albany, New York, the Schooner Adirondack is an 80-foot wooden replica of a classic turn-of-the-century pilot schooner.

Heading south from Chelsea Piers and down the Hudson River to Battery Park, the Schooner Adirondack passes by Ellis Island and sails out to the Statue of Liberty. Wind and time permitting, she will head toward Governor's Island, breeze by the Financial District and the Brooklyn Bridge on the East River.

The 1920s-style motor yacht "Manhattan," also built by Scarano Boat Building, is brand new to the New York City harbor as of spring 2006. This 80-foot, wood-trimmed, Gilded Era commuter yacht runs full circumnavigations of Manhattan, dinner cruises and sunset cruises, and is available for private charter.
