An exceptional performance. We laughed and were delighted by the entire cast. Even the ticket and concession people were wonderful. Just be sure and bring a jacket, as the air conditioning in the theater is powerful. The cast was gracious enough to hand out jackets after intermission. Please do not miss this great experience!Written on Aug 20 2007

I took my mom for her birthday - there were four of us and we all enjoyed it immensely. The only problem was the speech wasn't as clear as I thought it should have been. Other than that, it was great!Written on Sep 04 2007

The short write up is misleading and does not explain the true storyline. The story is old, dated and quite offensive. Considering this is the theater company that presented excellent renditions of Dreamgirls and Bye-Bye Birdie last season, this has been a major disappointment. I was able to suffer through the first act before escaping to the 21st century by way of the exit. The theater is less than 1/3 full during my Sunday afternoon performance with most people paying $1-3 to gain entrance.Written on Aug 27 2007

This production, the first I've seen, although I've always loved the music, was terrific, and I urge everyone to see it! Even though I don't often like musicals, the lyrics in this one are deliciously clever and the catchy, memorable songs brilliantly give what would otherwise be a slightly silly story genuine depth. It was clear that the cast was enjoying themselves immensely. Recognizing that they were showing us a jewel of a work, they gave their hearts to it, with the result that their acting, singing, and dancing were impressive. Truly, some of the talent and thoughtful directing merits being labelled inspired, and the staging was inventive and effective. Unfortunately, Finian's Rainbow is rarely produced, although its ideas and themes about class and race are certainly still timely. Seriously, it would be a public service to transfer this show to Broadway so that more people can enjoy its various pleasures as much as I and my family did. Bravo all around!Written on Jul 31 2007

More Information About Finian's Rainbow
Description
The incomparable Yip Harburg, who created the dazzling score for the classic MGM film version of The Wizard of Oz, also composed the score for Finian's Rainbow. Set against Harburg’s gospel, blues and Broadway songs, the plot of Finian's Rainbow uncompromisingly explores contemporary themes of race and class. The more serious, politically inspired plot devices are juxtaposed against situations that are filled with fantasy and charm that will surely appeal to audiences of all ages. The eclectic cast of characters include: a racist white senator who is turned black so he can experience the pain he has inflicted on others, a mischievous, misguided leprechaun named Og, a woman who “speaks” through dances, a pair of lovers, Woody and Sharon, and Finian, the hopeless dreamer, who is responsible for setting this fantastical, entertaining and magnificent tale in motion.
