Mary Shelley's 1818 horror classic, Frankenstein, gets a 21st-century update in this innovative British production, directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle (127 Hours, Slumdog Millionaire) and adapted by Nick Dear. The high-definition recording was made on the London Stage of the acclaimed National Theatre, and now this 2011 broadcast returns to the big screen as part of the National Theatre's 50th anniversary celebrations. The classic tale of a mad scientist and his ghoulish creation, the production features actors Benedict Cumberbatch (Atonement) and Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting), who both won Olivier Awards for alternating the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature.
