Into the Void plays Black Sabbath's debut album in its entirety, plus hits spanning the metal pioneers' Ozzy Osbourne era, at B.B. King Blues Club in Times Square. Led by vocalist Rick Woods, an ex-member of Black Bloody Black and uncanny impersonator of Osbourne's vocals, the band also features members of tribute bands Bargain, Sabbra Cadabra and Black Dog. They're all gifted musicians, and they've spent years mastering the uniquely heavy sound of Sabbath's classic tunes.

Early in his life, A.J. Croce lost his vision as the result of a brain tumor, but between the ages of four and ten partial sight gradually returned to his left eye. During this time period he began to play piano, inspired by the music of blind artists Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder. He started playing professionally at the age of 12 and by age 16 he was a regular at several San Diego nightclubs. He toured with B.B. King at age 18 and released his first solo album the following year. A.J. now has seven albums to his name and has toured with artists as legendary as his father including Carlos Santana, Rod Stewart, Aretha Franklin, Willie Nelson, James Brown and Ray Charles. A great talent in his own right, the younger Croce carries on his father's legacy while paving new musical roads of his own. Learn More

Description

Into the Void is a band that plays Black Sabbath's music from the Ozzy years. The musicians in the group were hand-picked from three different tribute bands. Vocalist Rick Woods comes from Black Bloody Black, guitarist Aaron Kipness and bassist Marty Beck come from Bargain (The Who tribute band), and drummer Tom Capobianco comes from Sabbra Cadabra and Black Dog.

Woods's vocals are a dead-on representation of Ozzy Osbourne that has never been topped. Kipness built a special amplifier and effects pedals from scratch to exactly replicate Tony Iommi's signature sound, and he spent many hours learning the requisite solos and songs note for note. Beck captures the true essence of Geezer Butler's style and tone by using identical basses and high-powered amplification. And Capobianco, a veteran of drumming Black Sabbath's music for over 20 years, pounds his Ludwig drums relentlessly in true Bill Ward fashion.

Into the Void boasts an extensive songlist and even plays Black Sabbath albums in their entirety. Tonight's show is one such performance and will feature the band playing Black Sabbath's self-titled 1970 debut, as well as the group's timeless hits. If this sounds good to you, come out to B.B. King Blues Club for what is sure to be an amazing show!
