Amazing! I've wanted to see Mr. Marsalis and Mr. Goines for years and loved every second of it! The seats were INCREDIBLE, 3RD ROW to be exact! I will definitely take advantage of Goldstar's offers more often and you should too!

I was impressed first with the music, the arrangement, the pre-concert talk, the introduction to each piece and...did I mention, the music.

More Information About Jazz Meets Clave with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis

Description

The godfather of Afro-Cuban music, Mario Bauza, and his fellow countrymen Machito, Chano Pozo, and Cachao were the early innovators who first showed Latin musicians how to swing and bop, and at the same time taught the great jazz artists like Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker how to play the intricate polyrhythms of Cuba.

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, with Wynton Marsalis and host Carlos Henriquez, will explore the early breakthrough hits "Tanga” and “Manteca," the later development of the mambo and the cha-cha-cha, and the enduring legacy of the explosive musical pioneers of the Basque region and Spain.

There will be a free pre-concert discussion one hour before the concert.
