The Harlem Gospel Choir, the most famous gospel choir in America and one of the preeminent gospel choirs worldwide, brings the music of Harlem and the black church to Times Square in a joyous celebration of high-energy, hand-clapping singing and dancing. Made up of the finest singers and musicians from Harlem's black churches and the New York/Tri-State area, the choir strives to create a better understanding of African-American culture and make the world a more loving and peaceful place. Allen Bailey was inspired to create the choir in 1986 after attending a celebration at Harlem's Cotton Club in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. That inspiration can be felt in the music today, as the choir's uplifting songs of hope touch the soul and raise the spirit. Joan Osborne was wonderful. The Holmes Brothers were great and Paul Thorn was funny and delightful. I really enjoyed when the Holmes Brothers and eventually Paul joined Joan on stage. NYC was the last stop on their tour.

My only complaint was the audience talked loudly and the house lights were on during the first two sets.

The lineup was fantastic, but I agree that Joan's set was way too short and that her pipes were just a tad tired but that did not stop her from spreading the good vibe she has going. BB Kings is a great venue.

I am a huge fan of joan osborne and was thrilled to have a chance to see her in person. also a big fan of BBKings - love the venue. that particular night she seemed to have a cold, or tired pipes - not as powerful a voice as i was expecting. holmes bros. seemed to over-play her voice, but i still loved her song selection.

Both Joan Osborne, and the venue BB King's, was awsome. There is not a bad seat in the house, the food is pretty good, and great energy. Joan Osborne was fabulous. My only complaint is that I wish her set was twice as long.

Description

In a career that spans over fifteen years, Joan has proven to be an artistically restless yet consistently enthralling performer. In 2002, she cemented her reputation as a top tier soul singer with an incredible turn in the acclaimed documentary film Standing in the Shadows of Motown, followed by a tour with legendary Motown backing band The Funk Brothers. In 2003, Osborne toured with the Dixie Chicks and then surprised and wowed audiences touring throughout America for two years as the lead singer for The Dead. In 2007, she graced the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.

Osborne loves to sing and perform in many different genres, but she comes back to her soulful rock roots on Little Wild One, her fall release that reunites her Grammy All-Star team of Rick Chertoff and Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian of The Hooters. The team last worked together on Osborne's breakthrough, debut album Relish, which sold five million copies worldwide and yielded the smash hit "One Of Us" as well as scoring six Grammy nominations.
