In TOTEM, Cirque du Soleil traces the journey of the human race from amphibian beginnings all the way into the future, imagining the realization of our ultimate desire to fly. Set on a stage inspired by the giant turtle that represents earth's origins in many ancient civilizations, and drawing inspiration from various creation myths, TOTEM's characters evolve through mind-blowing acrobatics and stunning visual displays, exploring the ties between all Earth's species and the dreams and infinite potential of humanity. I went this past Friday night to see La Vie. It was fantastic. The performers are amazing. Their passion for dancing and entertaining oozes from them and their energy is contagious.Written on Sep 19 2007
Such a nice change from the usual run-of-the-mill acrobatic acts you might see in a circus. And by the way, this is not your mother's circus act. It's passionate, raunchy, and provocative. I enjoyed every moment of it.Go see it while you still can!

The most enjoyable evening of entertainment I have had in a long time, original, extremely accomplished performers in a most beautiful tent vintage 1920's with mirrors (hence the name!) and excellent sight lines. Open seating, so arrive early, though you are never going to be more than thirty feet from the action. Slightly raunchy, perhaps not to everybody's taste but an absolute MUST.Written on Aug 08 2007

The event is definitely PG-13, and that's part of what makes it fun. The performers are funny, sexy, and clever -- and they make sure to engage the audience. You'll see dance, acrobatics, and other feats of human contortion and skill. The setting is intimate, the performances are clever, and the whole "adult cabaret" vibe is almost exactly as described on the website. In addition to getting into the show, there's dancing and drinks outside after it ends -- so your party can continue. My only critiques are that the seats were a little bit close together for a tall person, and that getting a program would have been nice so I could know who the characters were in real life. For the goldstar price, this was an excellent value.Written on Aug 27 2007

Quotes & Highlights
- “Unusual and exciting” --The New York Times
- “The many aerial acts swing right above the audience members' heads; trance-like performers go catapulting off the circular stage, with nothing to stop them other than the people ringed in the front row.” --Variety
- "...the gently unorthodox, intelligently wry and breathtaking skillful wonder of the 'new circus' experience called 7 Fingers. If this is the circus of the 21st century, things are looking up." --San Francisco Chronicle
- “Good old naughty and bawdy fun! Viewers will leave bewitched!” --The Star-Ledger
Description
La Vie is a cabaret...on the outskirts of life. Before exiting either upstage or downstage, the players are literally dying to prove themselves. Flying high above the audience, the MC cajoles the players to act out unfulfilled fantasies, reveal hidden taboos and indulge unrequited passions. The final judgement is up to you. Remember, someone's hell is another's heaven.
Last summer, New York was intoxicated by Absinthe. Now La Vie is set to turn up the heat at Spiegelworld. Montreal's sizzling circus-arts theatre company, Les 7 Doigts de la Main, will present the first ever "theatro-batic" show hand crafted for a Spiegeltent. Four years ago, seven extraordinary performers from Cirque du Soleil and beyond formed the company which has since captivated audiences around the globe. Their mix of life-threatening aerial acrobatics, wild characters and wicked music will ignite the intimate Speigelworld stage.
