This was the third version of Newsical that we have seen. It was not very good. The audience was sparse. 2 of the lead players were absent and it was a Friday evening.
The last time we saw it, there was a great LIza Minelli skit. This time the Liza piece was very short and that was disappointing, as Christine Poli's Liza is terrific.
A lot of the skits fell short. Tommy Walker, an understudy, was fabulous in all of his scenes. The other understudy, Amy Griffin, was not as good.
There was little laughter and applause. We felt badly for the performers. This show needs some good writers.
