Elevating the world of children's music, Elizabeth Mitchell brings a folk musician's love of homespun storytelling to her unique brand of gentle, heartfelt music. Mitchell is joined by a roster of special guests, including Natalie Merchant ("Wonder," "Kind and Generous") and Grammy-winning children's music singer-songwriter Dan Zanes, for a concert blending holiday songs off her new album, The Sounding Joy, with longtime audience favorites, a songbook that includes renditions of classic songs by Woody Guthrie, Bob Marley, The Velvet Underground and Gillian Welch. Quotes & Highlights
- "Abrete Sesamo has a pedagogical message. The play's main character, a kid, lives a thousand adventures as he goes to outer space or under the sea. He learns the letters and gets to know new animals thanks to the book." --La República
- "Simple and beautiful. Elaborate visual poetry that thrills children into loving two things that they might easily hate early on: numbers and letters." --Noticias Teatrales

Meet Granny María Babel and her cat, Blackie. Granny knits letters that dance on a tight wire and waters a potted plant that grows numbers instead of leaves. Then, once upon a time...a little boy who was excited to get a video game or a skate board on his birthday, throws a temper tantrum when the gift turns out to be a book. "Open Sesame...!" and the boy is swept into a Magical Realistic world that springs forth from the pages of the book. Children in the audience will embark on the adventure of a lifetime in this lyrical and whimsical visual production that features interactive large-format puppets in black-light and catchy music. For children 4+ years and families.

Open Sesame! is presented during TeatroStageFest, a two week celebration produced by the Latino International Theater Festival of New York.
