Elevating the world of children's music, Elizabeth Mitchell brings a folk musician's love of homespun storytelling to her unique brand of gentle, heartfelt music. Mitchell is joined by a roster of special guests, including Natalie Merchant ("Wonder," "Kind and Generous") and Grammy-winning children's music singer-songwriter Dan Zanes, for a concert blending holiday songs off her new album, The Sounding Joy, with longtime audience favorites, a songbook that includes renditions of classic songs by Woody Guthrie, Bob Marley, The Velvet Underground and Gillian Welch. Join Harlem's Hue-Man Bookstore and Touch One Events for a unique book event. The one-hour dramatization will be directed by Ozzie Jones, who has directed for Ntozake Shange. Following the stage performance will be a round table discussion with the authors and celebrities which will fully engage the audience. The moderator of this discussion is Lisa Cortes who was executive producer on the award-winning film Precious.
Page to Stage will benefit the Melvin Van Peebles Foundation to promote literacy. The event is sponsored in part by Iman Cosmetics, Symphony Space, A-Loft, Carib News and Alphabet Kids.
