SHE'S GORGEOUS AND SUPREMELY TALENTED.
Glad I saw it, but the show has problems. I was confused as to the endings of Act 1 and Act 2 as both seemed to come out of nowhere. But Martha Plimpton as Gladys gives great performance. If only the rest of the show was as good.
Stockard Channing stole the show - she was awesome! Martha Plimpton was fabulous and what a voice! The male lead - how awful I can't remember his name - although I did see him in Jersey Boys which he was very entertaining in, however, his performance in Pal Joey was not dynamic, he bored me to death, I couldn't wait for Stockard or Martha to come on again. I hate to say it but he's not a leading man - oh yeah he needs dancing lessons!! Music was ok - I enjoyed the numbers by Stockard & Martha - all the other songs need a little tweaking. More wardrobe changes for Stockard! I MUST SAY IT IS SO WORTH IT JUST TO SEE STOCKARD CHANNING - SHE WAS MESMERIZING; EXCITING; FUNNY; AND GEORGEOUS!

Set in Chicago in the late 1930s, Pal Joey is the story of Joey Evans, a brash, scheming song and dance man with dreams of owning his own nightclub. Joey abandons his wholesome girlfriend Linda English, to charm a rich, married older woman, Vera Simpson, in the hope that she’ll set him up in business.
