Psycho Therapy: New Comedy Takes Love Triangle to Couples Therapy
Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St New York City, NY 10014)
Psycho Therapy, the new comedy by playwright Frank Strausser (Virgin Mary, The Split), finds engaged pair Lily and Phillip headed for couples therapy. But when Phillip blows off the sessions, Lily's young ex-boyfriend, Dorian, jumps in to fill the void. Eventually, the love-crossed trio ends up on the couch together and therapist Nancy Winston must contend with the tangled, "psycho" triangle. It's a new sort of couples therapy for three in this refreshing Cherry Lane Theatre production directed by Michael Bush.

While the premise of this play is rather predictable, the writing is brilliant, and the acting and directing just outstanding! Pull it all together and you will have one wonderfully entertaining evening that will leave you in stitches. I would recommend this as the perfect "psychotherapy" for anyone who has had a bad day. The humor is sure to banish your blues away.Written on Jan 24 2012

First off, awesome theater! Chairs were comfortable and roomy and the theater is very clean and larger than some off broadway theaters. The show was hysterical. From start to finish you were laughing. I can definitely relate to the story line. The discount price was unbelievable and so worth it! I highly recommend this show to you!Written on Apr 16 2012

Got great seats, second row! Small, beautiful theater. The show itself was a little campy but was fun. Probably falls in the lower middle for quality. Best actor was the therapist hands down.Written on Jan 19 2012

This show was just awful. Not a single round character to be found, the poor actors couldn't remember their inane lines (which mostly consisted of yelling at each other and making out), and the whole script felt like a failed college theater production. It's a great historic venue and the design was pleasant enough, but the show itself had no redeeming value that I could find.Written on Apr 10 2012
