Stitching: Exciting, Controversial British Play
The Wild Project (New York City, NY)
Rated 2.5 by 62 members who went.
Adamanto Productions and Electric Pear Productions present Stitching. Written by Anthony Neilson, one of the leaders of Britain's "in-yer-face" theatre movement, Stitching tells the story of Stu and Abby's complex, disturbing relationship. The visceral poetry and physicality between the lovers creates a surprisingly tender, often humorous, brutal romance. Starring Meital Dohan of Weeds and John Ventimiglia (The Sopranos).

The acting was really amazing considering there was only two in the cast . The story line was a little odd but I liked it none the less.

What a treat to be able to attend a preview of this great play for so little cost!
The play was just as it was billed... startling... shocking even, with its mix of love, violence and surprise. Very good performances by both actors.
Nice little theatre, too. I was right up close.
All in all, a great experience. Thanks, Goldstar!

Couldn't believe how really good this play was for the price. Started off a little sketchy with the over acting but then the actors got into their character.
The story was very interesting, twisted but interesting. Observing the different stages in the couple’s relationship. This is definitely a play for adults. There are a couple of really hot and steamy scenes with lots of dirty talk. The actors really interacted very well with each other.
I really liked the fact that the actors changed their clothing for each scene in front of the audience (underwear kept on of course). Ladies sit on the left side of the theater if you want a closer look. I found it funny to watch the men sitting on the left side of the theater squirm every time the actor would change his clothes.
FYI – Bring a jacket it’s freezing in the theater.

Not a play to take children to by any means. It definitely pushes the envelope and makes things uncomfortable for those that are not ready for the in your face sexual nature of the play.

Acting is excellent; writing is uneven and characters are too inconsistent
psychologically. It's compelling, but not believable enough.

A very strange love story with excellent acting. Not for the faint of heart. Professional theater and a thought provoking play.

fantastic acting by both leads, i was gripped throughout. While there are some controversial aspects to the play i did not find it offensive in any way, and would definitely recommend it!!!

We loved it! After reading the reviews, I was expecting something much more scandalous. While it was graphic, it was really well done and relevant to real life experiences.

An adult play, with adult content, what a relief!!
The actors were superb, the set nicely done and realistic, the story was mindblowing.
See it, it's well worth your time and money.

The acting was just superb!
The play was very accurate in portraying the couple and their disfunctional relationship.

I liked this play. I didnt find it overly sexual at all. I thought that it was going to be a horror play, but its really just about relationships and how people deal with tragedy in relationships(and then a bizarre ending). Great price. Really great venue.

It was definately unique and totally pushed the envelope. It's worth seeing, but not for the closeminded.

I enjoyed relationship stories. This was very good. My only concern is the age limit of 16, it should be 21.

Stitching
by Anthony Neilson
Starring Meital Dohan (Weeds, Bath Party) and John Ventimiglia (The Sopranos)
Directed by Timothy Haskell (Roadhouse, Fatal Attraction, The Jaded Assassin, Nightmare Haunted House).
Stu and Abby love each other so madly, they're driving each other crazy. Stitching follows the increasingly disturbing and inventive games the couple plays in order to connect. As they circle and test each other, they role-play with reality and fantasy to the point where even they don't seem sure what is real anymore. When Abby discovers she's pregnant, the choices they make will haunt them forever. The visceral poetry and physicality between the lovers creates a surprisingly tender, often humorous, brutal romance. Stitching is a complex love story that takes a bracing look at the startling casualties of modern romance.
