A New York City multiple MAC and Bistro Award winner, this audience and critic's favorite has recently been hailed as "the love child of Dean Martin and Judy Garland" by the San Francisco Examiner. Vocalist/Bandleader/Comedian Genecco and her 8-piece band of top-flight New York City jazz musicians, often boasting Grammy winners (Lew Soloff on trumpet) and nominees (Mayra Casales on Latin percussion) among its ranks, put on a high-energy show reminiscent of The Rat Pack era in Las Vegas. Jazz composer/lyricist Mark Winkler says, "Genecco sings like Keely Smith with the energy of Louis Prima!" Time Out New York Magazine calls Genecco's shows "Frisky, retro fun" and has named them to their Top Ten Best lists and as a "critics pick" since they first appeared in New York City in 2005.
Terese Genecco is the 2009 winner of the MAC Award for Outstanding Female Vocalist, the 2008 MAC Award Winner for Best Recording (for her live CD, "Drunk With Love: A Tribute To Frances Faye!") and the 2007 Back Stage Bistro Award Winner for Best Tribute Show. Genecco's rollicking, retro Vegas-style performances have been wowing audiences and critics alike from San Francisco (where she is the reigning "Entertainer of the Year" six years running) to jazz and supperclub-style venues in Hollywood, Reno, and New York City. Following a one year engagement as the late-night Saturday entertainment at The Rrazz Room in The Hotel Nikko in downtown San Francisco, Genecco now resides in New York City where she appears in an open-ended, monthly engagement at the world renowned music venue, The Iridium Jazz Club, in 'Big Band Tuesdays' presented by ScoBar Entertainment. Much like the Rat Pack shows in Las Vegas in the early 1960's, Genecco's audiences often include celebrity entertainers, world-class musicians, and visiting politicians. Take a trip back to the glamorous, hot, glitzy nights of Las Vegas updated for a new young, hip, New York City crowd. In the band: Barry Levitt and Terese Genecco on piano, Tom Hubbard on bass, Sean Harkness on guitar, Joe Abba on drums, Emedin Rivera and Mayra Casales on Latin percussion, Cliff Lyons and Jeff Lederer on tenor sax, Mark Miller on trombone, and Kenny Lavender on trumpet.
