Texas natives and long-time friends Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely and Butch Hancock have performed together off and on for almost 40 years. Ely, the street-wise rocker; Gilmore, the mystic with the classic country voice; and Hancock, the cerebral folk singer, combine their divergent styles for one of the most extraordinary musical kinships in America. The band first began performing in the early '70s and, after a long hiatus, reunited for the soundtrack to Robert Redford's The Horse Whisperer in 1998. Since then, they have been touring and recording albums during breaks in their successful solo careers. Their fourth studio collaboration Hills and Valleys was released in 2009.

These guys are great solo and absolutely fantastic together. BB Kings is a nice, intimate venue to see live music and the staff was friendly and attentive.

Always good and they were exceptional last night. Not crazy about the opener. When the band did a Townes song they tore the roof off. Mr Durso, supporting on slide was out of this world.
