The Genzinger String Quartet
The Genzinger String Quartet Plays Haydn and Beethoven
The Genzinger String Quartet will play two eccentric and touching works from Haydn's maturity (Opus 54, No. 3 and Opus 55, No. 2) and a boisterous quartet by the young Beethoven (Opus 18, No. 1) for this performance at the Players Theatre. Quartet members Evan Johnson, Mark Rike, Peggy Spencer and Loretta O'Sullivan play on period instruments -- complete with sheep gut strings and all -- in order to more accurately recreate the sounds that 18th-century composers originally had in mind.
