Jazz at Lincoln Center presents multi-instrumentalist and jazz ambassador Paquito D'Rivera in a program that features the music of Astor Piazzolla and tango's relationship to jazz. When Argentinean tango master Piazzolla died in 1992, there were few musicians keeping his sound alive but D'Rivera has brought the spotlight back onto the man and his music. His most recent album, Tango Jazz, features Grammy nominee and Buenos Aires native Pablo Aslan on bass and provides the foundation for this Rose Theater concert. Drummer Pipi Piazzolla (Piazzolla's grandson) and Piazzolla's former pianist, Pablo Ziegler, will also join in the celebration.

This event which included a preconcert panel discussion w/ the musicians helped paved the enjoyment of the evening. It was an evening of wonderful Argentenian jazz @ its best with performers who have a passion for their genre. The seating and acoustic @ the Rose Auditorium added to the enjoyment of the evening.
