Jazz at Lincoln Center will showcase the mambo as it presents this tribute to Israel "Cachao" López, the late Cuban bassist-composer who's frequently credited with creating the form. Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra bassist Carlos Henriquez, who played in the great Latin jazz bands of Tito Puente and Eddie Palmieri as a teenager, will lead the occasion. Together, Henriquez and the JLCO will follow the musical road paved by Cachao, from mambo to danzon (the official dance of Cuba), descarga (Latin jam sessions) and more.
