The theater was small, but it gave a more personal effect, you could see every nuance of the actors faces as they played their parts. I was amazed at the creativity of the group and how they brought the story to life using minimal props. I am a big fan of Mandy Patinkin and he is a wonderful actor as well as a gracious human being. I waited after the show and was able to chat with some of the actors who were engaging, friendly, and extremely talented.

It was really amazing! I wasn't sure what to expect as I am not crazy about "The Tempest" - but I was really pulled in. The entire cast was wonderful, but I found Mandy (incredible voice and energy!) and the actor playing Stephano the most engaging. Well done!
My one gripe has nothing to do with the show - the seat was really uncomfortable!! I just barely had enough room for my legs and had to keep my large bag on my lap during the 1st half of the show.

The production was very well-directed. We particularly liked the use of music, which allowed taking advantage of Mandy Patinkin's voice, as well as the fabulous talents of the actress/musician playing Ariel. The comic characters were excellent. Patinkin, as usual, was a bit over the top, but that's part of his charm, I suppose. Waterston as Miranda was a disappointment; her voice sounds like a man speaking in falsetto so as to imitate a woman. The Frederico, however, was 100% fantastic -- an extremely talented actor. Overall, a memorable and very enjoyable experience.

A simple and elegant production. Wonderfully acted, especially by the young lovers. Mandy was terrific. A role he was born to play. The poetry was there, the humour, the pathos. Everything. Well done. And the handling of the Wedding Celebration, usually 10 minutes of hell, was the best I've seen.

I found Ms. Waterson difficult to understand and both she and Mandy
Patankin spoke at a speed that made it difficult to understand.

Often American actors doing Shakespeare incorrectly conclude they must be "English." This superb American cast of actors made this largely plotless play wholly understandable to the American (New York) ear and, in the process, wonderfully entertaining. The person with me had seen The Tempest at The Globe in London and, unequivocally, found this production the better. My Kudos to Mandy Patinkin for "finishing the hat" as Prospero and to all his colleagues at Classic Stage who make their art seem easy.

A wonderful night of theater. I would highly recommend it. Vanda (playwright who teaches Shakespeare to undergrads)
