Fresh from their breakout performance on the NBC TV show America's Got Talent, the six men and one woman of Traces burst onto stage, tossing each other in the air, swinging on poles and dancing in rhythm to thumping tunes. Set to the music of Radiohead, VAST, Blackalicious, and more, Traces features French-Canadian group 7 Fingers in a high-energy acrobatic circus. Each performer's personality comes to life through funny spoken tidbits, tender dances or sweet musical solos, combined with physical feats such as diving through hoops, doing a headstand on a stack of chairs or spinning in a giant metal wheel. A completely unique -- and personal -- circus, The New York Times calls Traces "a fix of pure urban adrenaline."

Murder Ballad: Steamy Rock Musical Moves to Union Square Theatre

Full Price:
$90.00
Our Price:
$45.50

Direct from a sold-out run at Manhattan Theatre Club, Murder Ballad's love triangle gone wrong moves to Union Square Theatre. This sexy rock musical centers on Sara, an Upper West Sider who seems to have it all. Unfortunately, her downtown past has a way of dangerously creeping back into her life when she least expects it. This new production explores the complications of love, the compromises we make and the betrayals that can ultimately ruin us. The Drama League, Outer Critics Circle and the Lucille Lortel Awards have all nominated Murder Ballad for Best Musical. See why Paper Magazine described it as a "chilling, thrilling, romantic, roller coaster ride of a show." Learn More

Energetic and imaginative. We went with a 15-year old who loved it. The acrobats/dancers/actors are very skilled, and it is fun to see them up close in a small theater.

Description

7 Fingers (Les 7 doigts de la main) are an astonishingly talented young French Canadian company who have pioneered a whole new brand of circus. Their show Traces was a runaway hit at the Edinburgh Festival in 2007.

The name of the Montreal-based performance group that gave life to Traces – 7 Fingers – is a twist on a French idiom ("the five fingers of the hand") used to describe distinct, individual parts moving in coordination towards one common goal. Founded in Montreal by seven seasoned circus performers, and now with five touring shows, this collective has charmed audiences across the globe with their strikingly human and unprecedented multi-disciplinary approach to circus, moving their distinct parts towards common artistic goals.

Traces amazes with high-energy urban acrobatics that are at once poetic and explosive, humorous and thoughtful. Combining traditional acrobatic forms with street elements such as skateboarding and basketball, mixed in with some theatre and contemporary dance, it surprises, awes and delights at every turn.

The troupe of seven performers delivers gravity-defying displays of skill which include traditional Chinese acrobatics such as balancing on each other's heads, tumbling through hoops, and scaling giant poles without the use of hands.
