Travis Sullivan's Bjorkestra
Travis Sullivan's Bjorkestra Plays Blue Note Jazz Festival
The Blue Note Jazz Festival at Highline Ballroom welcomes back Travis Sullivan's Bjorkestra, famed for morphing the music of famed Icelandic singer Bjork into ultra-danceable big-band arrangements, accompanied by live vocals. Conceived and conducted by alto saxophonist Travis Sullivan, this 18-piece, genre-bending ensemble weaves together the pop-music artistry of the Nordic chanteuse -- known for her '90s hits like "Human Behaviour" -- with the improvisational feel of classic and modern jazz. Bjorkestra has been a hit at jazz festivals all over the world, and even released a CD entitled Enjoy

Considered one of the greatest concert films ever made -- it was directed by Martin Scorsese and starred The Band, after all -- The Last Waltz comes to life as a benefit performance at Highline Ballroom, featuring The Rev Tor Band and more than a dozen local musicians, who'll put their own signature stamps on songs from the original soundtrack. The movie captures The Band's final concert in 1978, at which they were joined by all-stars like Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell and Paul Butterfield for favorites like "The Weight," "Up On Cripple Creek," and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down."
