Players Theatre presents a lively musical stage adaptation of Charles Dickens' beloved Christmas story. Grumpy old miser Ebenezer Scrooge finds a second chance to become a loving, generous, kind human being through the aid of four ghosts who visit him in turn one Christmas Eve, each teaching him valuable lessons. Will Scrooge catch the holiday spirit and save himself in the process? This tale of redemption and forgiveness captures the true spirit and magic of the holiday season for the whole family. April 2, 2013: Parthenia
Repertoire will be Frances White's a flower on the farther side for viol consort and pre-recorded electronics, Kristin Norderval's Nothing Proved for viols, soprano and manipulated electronics, Eleonor Sandresky's selections from her String Quartet, Tawnie Olson's worldp remiere of a new work for viols and baritone and Beth Anderson's Magnificat. Guest artists are Dashon Burton, baritone and Kristin Norderval, soprano and several of the composers will be there to speak about their music. Parthenia is Beverly Au, Lawrence Lipnik, Rosamund Morley and Lisa Terry.
April 16, 2013: Quintet of the Americas
Concert repertoire will be Kate Neal’s Paper Scissors Dog with video, Julia Wolfe's On Seven-Star Shoes, Laura Kaminsky’s Cadenza Variations for Woodwind Quintet, Barbara Harbach's Freeing the Caged Bird, Magda Santos’ Chorando em Sao Paulo and Beata Moon's Wind Quintet. Members of the Quintet are Karla Moe, flute, Matt Sullivan, oboe, Nicholas Gallas, clarinet, Barbara Oldham, horn and Maureen Strenge, bassoon.
May 21, 2013: Canta Libre Chamber Ensemble
Selections wil be Nancy Gufstavson's Nocturne, Barbara Harbach's Carondelet Caprice, Beth Anderson's February Swale (Commissioned by Canta Libre), Adrienne Albert's Lullaby and music of Victoria Bond. Canta Libre performers are Sally Shorrock, flute, Francisca Mendoza, violin, Veronica Salas, viola, Bernard Tamosaitis, cello and Karen Lindquist, harp.
