I have to say that the evening was saved by Edmar Castaneda who I had never heard or seen before in my life.
He thrilled me and my daughter who I took so she would experience the YellowJackets music.
I was disappointed that YJ did not perform any of their very well known compositions; Man facing North, Song for Nacy, New Rochelle etc
I sensed somewhat of a letdown in the audience as well because they were not brought back to a thunderous encore which is befitting a group of that stature.
While Mike Stern and the Jackets performed well as accomplished musicians that they are they left a large void by omitting some comfort for the mind, ears and soul that we all know and love.

Description

There are fusions and then there are Fusions: Lincoln Center features the genre-crossing music of the Yellowjackets, whose award-winning sound has made them international headliners for more than thirty years and twenty successful albums, including the 2008 smash Lifecycle, an album highlighting tonight’s guest star, guitar virtuoso Mike Stern. Colombian harp sensation Edmar Castaneda opens the show with some gloriously swinging music from the Pan Americas, continuing the fusion theme between jazz and Latin sounds.
