Rival cheer squads face off in this explosive musical comedy that The New York Times calls "Dazzling ... Impossible to resist." Created by a dream team of musical theater superstars, including Tony-winning creative talents behind Avenue Q, In The Heights, Next to Normal and High Fidelity, Bring It On has arrived at Broadway's St. James Theatre for a limited engagement after a successful national tour. Showcasing the intense rivalries and amazing athletics of the world of competitive cheerleading, this original story, inspired by the Bring It On film, centers on perky high school girl Campbell, a cheerleading captain who is forced to move to a new school full of kids who don't look or act anything like her. While struggling to define herself in the new crowd, she learns lessons about friendship, and ultimately finds happiness by teaming up with the hip-hop crew and starting a completely original cheer squad. The fresh-faced, high-energy cast lets loose with some incredible gravity-defying stunts, choreographed to a soundtrack that's packed with upbeat songs. You'll definitely leave the theater feeling the spirit!

By the Way, Meet Vera Stark: Sly Satire Skewers Hollywood Racism

Full Price:
$43.00 - $55.00
Our Price:
$21.50 - $27.50

Set in Hollywood over a 70-year period, Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage's pseudo-biographical comedy By the Way, Meet Vera Stark follows the life of a headstrong African-American actress who begins a career in the 1930s, at a time when her only shot at success lay in stealing small scenes in big Hollywood blockbusters. Seventy years later, film buffs reflect on the life and legacy of the controversial star, whose eventual fame and fortune came at the price of perpetuating dangerous stereotypes. Nottage artfully blends comedy and social commentary for a thoroughly entertaining yet thought-provoking picture of the cultural climate that shaped Vera Stark. Clever and illuminating, this show draws on screwball films of the 1930s and uses today's fascination with celebrity and controversy to get to the truth behind the legend, and reflect on who she might have been if she'd lived in a different time.
