I enjoyed the presentation byChef Melody because she let the audience sample everything she mentioned (bread pudding, rice, brownies, cream cheese) and it was very tasty.

There were so many teas to choose from! The coffee selection was ok. Quite liked the Turkish coffee! Two things they could do better is 1. have a map of all the different vendors and 2. have more chairs at the seminars.

I found this event to be cute for a Saturday morning. Something different for $10. Anything more than $10 tickets wouldn't be worth it. There were quite a few vendors. After entering we received a goody bag. Entenmann's gave a lot of additional goodies.

Description

The United States Barista Championship is an action-packed competition where baristi demonstrate their talent and craft. The competition is designed to highlight the craft of the barista and espresso-based beverage production.

As seen on the Food Network’s hit show Unwrapped and selected as one of the 10 Best New York Events April 2009, by www.10best.com, "the Coffee And Tea Festival is a celebration of everything related to coffee and tea,” said Lynda Calimano, Event Producer. “We’re especially delighted this year to host the United States Barista Championship. Attendees are in for a real treat,” she added.

The event offers two days of fun and interactive classes/lectures/demos from well-known industry pros and pioneers. Programming highlights include topics as varied as coffee cupping & tasting, afternoon tea etiquette, making tea cocktails, and incorporating coffee into your favorite recipes. Included among the featured exhibitors are Melitta, Tavalon Tea, Harney & Sons Fine Teas, Jalima Coffee, Fang Gourmet Tea, Shapna Tea & Coffee, Peet’s Coffee, TeaClassics, Hancha Tea, Runa, Unique Coffee Roasters, Srina, Honest Tea, Best International Tea, Pride of India, Tea Association of the U.S.A. and the National Coffee Association. The event will also help raise funds and awareness for Cup for Education, a non-profit group that provides help to the poor rural coffee communities of Central and Latin America.
