Good grief! The adorable kids of Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead have hit puberty and their problems now go way beyond an absentee pumpkin or a mean football trick. Dog Sees God follows the crew a decade after the famous comic strip ends in this touching parody-with-an-edge. When CB's dog dies, he begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to deal, his sister has gone goth, his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized and his other friends are too drunk to be any help. A chance meeting with a new friend offers CB peace of mind and sets in motion a chain of events that will push teen angst to the limits. Drug use, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion and sexual identity collide and careen toward an ending that's both haunting and hopeful.

I had seen this play once before, but this production far surpassed my expectations. Aside from one actor who couldn't get her lines straight, the acting was excellent and the emotion honest. The writing was better than I remembered, and the play was truly inspiring.
