Born at a Mardi Gras party in Portland, Oregon, MarchFourth Marching Band has become one of the nation's best live touring acts -- and you can catch them outdoors on Pier 15 backed by beautiful waterfront views. More than just a concert, a MarchFourth show is a celebration, with stilt-walkers, unicyclists, fire eaters, puppets, flag twirlers, clown antics, acrobatics and more, accompanied by an eclectic big band in marching band costumes. Anchored by funky electric bass and featuring a 12-piece horn section and a 10-piece drum/percussion corps, MarchFourth takes you on a journey from the swamps of Louisiana to the gypsy camps of Eastern Europe to the African jungle by way of Brazil, while honoring the musical traditions of American funk, rock and jazz. Opening for MarchFourth is Brother Joscephus and the Love Revolution, a foot-stompin' gumbo of roots rock, old-school soul and New Orleans rhythms. Learn More
I would recommend allowing extra time at the end of the tour to just roam around and eat locally. I made my way back to the Chelsea Market and perused the market slowly... eating along the way.Greenwich Village Sampler Tour: From the High Line to Washington Square info • Sep 30 2013 star this tip starred
The weather was a beautiful fall sunny day. I wore walking shoes and a hat. Carry as little as possible or a small backpack. .Greenwich Village Sampler Tour: From the High Line to Washington Square dress • Sep 30 2013 star this tip starred

Had a great time on the tour! The tour guide was friendly and knowlegeable. Loved our snack stops along the way. The meat pies at Myers of Keswick were delicious, as were the cookies at Insomnia Cookies. I would definitely recommend this tour for locals and tourists.

The owner of City Rover, Max, was also our tour guide. He really knows his stuff! The tour was well worth it. Max keeps the tour group small and managable. He shows you parts of New York city that you wouldn't find in a guide book, but he also...continued
The tour starts off where the Oreo cookie was born, then heads up to the High Line to admire the views and explore the west side’s glory days as the city’s largest industrial area. It then enters Greenwich Village to explore its side streets, stoops, squares and sordid tales of riots, murder, abuse, artistry and spite. _
You’ll explore following areas:
- West Chelsea
- Meatpacking District
- West Village
- Greenwich Village
Each participant will be offered a complimentary bottle of water and two complimentary snacks. (Snacks are not vegan-friendly, but vegetarian alternatives are available.)
The tour covers two miles in a little over 3 hours. Wear comfortable footwear and dress appropriately for the weather, as the tours go on rain or shine.
Bring a camera.
Guide gratuities are not included in the tour price. While not mandatory, they are always appreciated.
The tour ends near Washington Square Park in the heart of Greenwich Village. _
