This Broadway production of Kenneth Lonnergan's This Is Our Youth -- starring Michael Cera (Juno, Superbad), Kieran Culkin (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and Tavi Gevinson (Enough Said) -- takes a lacerating look at 48 hours in the lives of three young Manhattanites in 1982. The product of affluent New York families, the trio is comprised of wannabe thief Warren, wannabe drug dealer Dennis and fashion student Jessica, all living together in doped-up squalor. Adolescence, maturity, responsibility and youth culture in the Reagan era collide in this enduring, revealing play. Directed by Tony Award winner Anna D. Shapiro (August: Osage County), this play is a living snapshot of a pivotal, coming-of-age moment that is at once funny, painful and compassionate. Learn More

Very funny show. The first half was much funnier. The second half took a darker comedy path (to be expected if you are familiar with the movie). I can see this one day being reworked into a Broadway show, with a little more polishing up of the second act. But overall the cast did a fantastic job and the songs were both catchy and hilarious. The soundtrack is a must have if you like campy, funny show tunes. Great fun!

- “[The] terrific pop score smartly expands the story while echoing its pitch-black but hilarious tone … Marguerite Derricks’ 1980s aerobics-class choreography adds to the hilarity. Director Andy Fickman’s cast of mostly new faces is excellent.” —New York Daily News (four stars)
“If you want to relive a cult flick, head over to the ingenious, very funny Heathers: The Musical, which pulls off wonders on a shoestring.” —New York Post
