The piece, arranged for instrumental ensemble and adult and children's choruses, will feature the Georgia Boy Choir and a festival chorus and orchestra, with Linda Sweetman-Waters accompanying on organ. Written on May 22 2012I'm still laughing! I would like to see them again! Not only are they hilarious, but their musicianship is impeccable.
Written on Apr 30 2012Great show!! Great talent!! Great music!!!
Written on Apr 19 2012For just a second, let's take out the fact that the greatest cameo/random event in the history of my life happened at this show (an appearance by none other than the Piano Man himself, Billy Joel!!!!)...even still, this was by far the most entertaining "classical" performance I have ever attended. A few corny jokes aside, Igudesman and Joo are superb musical talents with a knack for creativity and a solid helping of comedic genius! Kids young and old, fans of Glee style mashups, classically trained musicians and everyone in between will love this show, GUARANTEED!
Written on Apr 19 2012It was great! plus got to see Billy Joel, it was a fabulous night!
Written on Apr 19 2012good clean clever fun and a refreshing way to experience some beautiful and impressive classical music... the icing on the cake were the surprise appearances by Billy Joel and famous violinist Joshua Bell... WOW! that definitely pushed it from "liked it" to "loved it" and I'm sure they have more of such things planned that way! it was also my first time at Carnegie Hall and though the seats are high the experience is still really grand... also I would arrive early to visit the Carnegie Hall history museum on the first tier and the famous images and letters on the first and second tiers, not enough time after the show to see everything!
Written on Apr 18 2012An extremely talented duo of violin and piano filled Carnegie Hall with side-splitting humor and magnificent solo and duet performances of familiar classical music. Three standing ovations brought to the stage two famous musicians from the audience, in a "Jam Session" which was the perfect finale to an evening of humor and musical genius.
Written on Apr 18 2012Great artists, wonderful music and amazing surprises !!!
Written on Apr 18 2012What a unique and entertaining event. Humorous and talented duo.
Written on Apr 18 2012I didn't know much about the duo, but the entire performance was just hilarious. In addition, performance with Bill Joel at the end was an extra bonus.
Written on Apr 18 2012Amazing Zany act! Great musicians and hilarious.
Written on Apr 18 2012lot of un and great guests !
Written on Apr 18 2012I had never heard of Igudesman and Joo but was wonderfully surprised at how inventive and funny the concert was. We had a great time and would love to see another of their concerts. I waited to long to buy tickets and got the let 2 tickets available. I am so glad I didn't miss this show
Written on Apr 18 2012I wish I had bought my mother with me on this, or a friend! I had a great time laughing - it's more slapstick humor. I enjoyed all the music - all of which are recognizable to me. Lots of music fusions between contemporary songs and classical music. I think if I had watched this performance as a kid, I would have been more appreciative of my piano lessons. I really enjoyed seeing classical music get "teared" up a bit just for fun!
Written on Apr 18 2012Great show! Funny to the bone! I love how they interact with each other and the audience. Billy Joel came up played his Steinway piano that took the audience by surprise. Between Mozart, Bach, The Simpson, Mozart, West Side Story, Mozart, Star Wars, All by Myself and Mozart (again - seriously!) I had the best night laughing while enjoying glorious music at Carnegie Hall performed by a very talented duo! Final two words - worth it!
Written on Apr 18 2012The duo were very entertaining. They took the stuffiness out of classical music without sacrificing virtuosity. The music was beautiful and they were hilarious!
Written on Apr 18 2012These two guys are exceptionally talented musicians and I bet they are wonderful teachers. As teachers, I am sure they can show children that music is interesting, fun and creative. But ... as an adult, somehow I didn't find their act all that funny. Their humor was forced and trite. OK, so maybe there will never be another Victor Borge, but these guys were far from the delight of Borge's unexpected surprises. There were some very nice moments in the show - I loved their Riverdance - but most of the time I wasn't enjoying it as much as the rest of the audience seemed to be.
Written on Apr 18 2012We had an amazing time! Great show!
Written on Apr 18 2012Fantastically Hilarious!!!
And when Billy Joel appeared as a guest, I was floored!!!
Written on Apr 18 2012A lot of talent but better suited for kids.
The guest appearances were surprising and fun!
Written on Apr 18 2012Two very talented musicians who also are talented comedians were good enough, but we got the added pleasure of an encore bit with Joshua Bell. Fun, fun, fun.
Written on Apr 18 2012Enjoyable evening at Carnegie Hall; the two performers are obviously talented musicians and have funny personalities, but much of waht they did was over the top, almost slap stick...but it was a definite departure for a traditional classical recital.
The way they blended songs from Pop Culture (James Bond, Star Wars, etc) into the classic pieces was genius.
Written on Apr 18 2012It was a fabulous evening. The musicians both entertained and performed beautifully. With all of the antics the fact that they are such accomplished musicians could never be hindered. Mozart was spectacular. Plus to add to fabulous was the fact that my tickets were upgraded to parquet, row T. Thanks, Goldstar.
Written on Apr 18 2012We had so much fun!!!!! What a treat for everyone in attendance.
Written on Apr 18 2012I would recommend this show to anyone who likes classical music AND has a good sense of humor. I loved loved loved it! Igudesman and Joo are great performers and made me laugh so much. I would definitely go back if they come back to NYC.
Thank you Goldstar for the great tix. The tickets were free, I only paid the convenience fee and had 2 great seats at Carnegie Hall (Tier 1). We could have been seated all the way up but instead we had 2 seats in the box on the first floor. Great seats, great show, great time!
Written on Apr 18 2012These two musicians are world-class and OH! so humorous! The show just flew by! But the real fun began during the encores! For those who left early 'to beat the crowd,' you missed a special performance with Joshua Bell and one with Billy Joel! What a great surprise!
Written on Apr 18 2012Hilarious! The concert built momentum and energy and we laughed out loud! Surprise performances by Joshua Bell and Billy Joel! Excellent!
Written on Apr 18 2012Never thought classical music can be this entertaining! loved the show.
the dress circle seats were perfect!
Written on Apr 18 2012Too much unfunny slapstick; not enough music
Written on Apr 18 2012A great fun and great music.
Written on Apr 18 2012playful and entertaining. a surprise visit by Billy Joel on-stage and at the piano made for an even better show...
Written on Apr 18 2012Hilarious piano and violin duo do classical music for a contemporary audience in the comic styles of Victor Borge, Jack Benny, Dudley Moore (most of the bits have been done before, but they are freshened up here.) Music ranges from Mozart to Bernstein to Simpsons theme. Surprise special guests included Joshua Bell and Billy Joel, who joined in the hijinks. Always nice to be in the beautiful Carnegie Hall. A fun evening!
Written on Apr 18 2012I laughed a lot! Corny, sometimes childish, fun. Seats were in the orchestra, right side. Perfect view. Carnegie Hall is so beautiful. Talented musicians. They'd do mash ups of pop tunes with classical tunes - wow! Joo the piano player played an entire piece with just one hand. Igudesman the violinist did a funny bit trying to tune his violin with the piano all by himself; you need 3 hands for that, but he figured it out. :) Joo's behavior was really over the top. Igudesman was sweet. Bonus encore performances featured Joshua Bell and then Billy Joel. I'm so glad I went!
Written on Apr 18 2012Encore!
Written on Apr 18 2012Laugh out loud hystically funny! Extremely talented musicians with great "gift of gab". So glad we went. Carnegie Hall was beautiful, staff very attentive. We both had a wonderful time!
Written on Apr 18 2012Highly entertaining concert packed with their followers. Two exceptionally well trained classical musicians who give a modern and very funny twist to some of our iconic classical favorites. They are upbeat, amusing, and just a bit manic which serves their humor well. We were treated to two wonderful surprise guests-the violinist Joshua Bell and the piano man Billy Joel both of whom joined in on the good nature ribbing and fun. A very satisfying evening at Carnegie Hall.
Written on Apr 18 2012Funny, witty, and talented duo kept me laughing the entire time. How can you go wrong with classical music, shaken, stirred and straight up? What a treat to have Joshua Bell and Billy Joel as surprise guests!
Written on Apr 18 2012Fantastic show...Ending was perticularly amazing.
Loved it.
Written on Apr 18 2012This show is classical meets comedy. The surprise special guest were great!!!
