Ring in the New Year with the lords and ladies of Medieval Times. The evening begins with the famed Medieval Times experience. Before the show, enjoy hors d'oeuvres and explore the hair-raising Museum of Torture as you arrive. At show time, settle in to feast on a four-course banquet and cheer for your favorite knight. The chivalrous warriors compete in jousting, swordsmanship, thrilling hand-to-hand combat, and displays of extraordinary horsemanship. After the show, medieval times give way to modern times with a DJ and dancing, party favors, a champagne toast and balloon drop at midnight. After your night of parting, restore your energy with a continental breakfast. Learn More

This was not a FAMILY cruise.
1. Boarding: I didn't know if we had to pick up tickets or if our Goldstar confirmation number was enough, so we got there 40 minutes before boarding (5:20pm). We were early enough that the 3 different boat lines were still distinct, but most of the people after us turned into a big chaotic mess and no one was telling people where to stand. THEN boarding began at least 20 minutes late (which wouldn't have been a big deal, except no one was telling us anything. Plus, it was MISERABLE hot and we didn't know when we would get to escape the heat- and there was no shade, no fans, nothing).
2. Cruise itself: Left about 30 minutes late. Music was LOUD (bar or club loud, no escaping it anywhere on the boat). If it were a party cruise I'd say whatever and go grab a beer, but I had exhausted family with me who needed a relaxing, FAMILY-friendly cruise. My aunt commented on the choice of music (fair amount of cussing), which I'm sure she loved since there were small children on the cruise and her own daughter. >:(
Fireworks: The captain kept turning the boat from side to side (I could hear the engine, we weren't just drifting), so there was no good spot to watch the whole show. The kids onboard kept running from 1 side of the boat to the other to keep them in view. I guess he was trying to give everyone a good view, but it made things worse.
End of cruise: We got to the pier right on time ('Thank God!' said all the seasick people), but then we SAT THERE for almost 40 minutes before pulling in. We landed almost 40 minutes late. I guess maybe they were trying to give us our money's worth since we left late? The only people who weren't complaining, sitting on the floor, carrying small sleeping children, or fighting seasickness were the 5 people who were drunk and dancing. The rest of us didn't care about those 30-40 extra minutes- we wanted OFF the boat.
We didn't RSVP a table, because we didn't know what we were getting into. We got our tickets last minute; we thought seating would be first come, first serve (I tried searching for info on the cruise prior but no luck). We didn't realize that the general admission folks like us would only have about 5 chairs to choose from for the whole group. After standing in line for over an hour with the delay, my cousin and I finally made do just sitting on the floor.
Good things: It wasn't packed like sardines, which was nice. The free food was actually decent, and after the first rush the line wasn't bad. Never much of a line for the open bar (Course, with a FAMILY-friendly cruise, there weren't many people drinking that much).
We went out of our way to find a family-friendly cruise and this was NOT. If we had known what it was really going to be like, we absolutely would not have done it. We all agreed that it was a miserable, terrible experience for us and we wish we had not signed up.
Again, as a PARTY cruise this would have been kinda fun, especially with the open bar and dance music. But as a FAMILY cruise it was miserable.
