This is an excellent tour of Lower Manhattan, including its history (criminal and otherwise), architecture, eateries and pubs, as well as pertinent personal vignettes from retired Ike Ilkiw's years as a NYPD detective. I've spent many weeks in New York, and don't usually undertake "tours." However, this was one of the best - if not THE best - excursions I've experienced. Ike's knowledgeable, personable and informative. My friend and I both had a better time with this than with our highly anticipated, but disappointing, backstage docent tour of the Metropolitan Opera House. You'll have a great time and see and learn a lot with Ike!Written on Mar 31 2011

It was a beautiful fall day, the group was just the right size. Our tour guide, Ike, was a lot of fun, well-informed and even shared some personal stories with us from his days in uniform in lower Manhattan. I not only learned a lot of fascinating stuff but now I have a new Chinese restaurant to visit, Parisi's famous bread shop and Ferrara's fantastic bakery on my list of favorite places. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes - it's a lot of walking.Written on Sep 20 2010

This is a highly entertaining and fact-filled tour that focuses on Little Italy, Nolita (North of Little Italy), Chinatown and the court and criminal justice building of lower Manhattan. The tour guide has a wealth of knowledge of how the system works and has first hand stories to tell. He was excellent. I appreciated the fact that he built in a quick refreshment break (at Ferrerra's in Little Italy) into the tour.Written on Jul 11 2010
The title of this tour might lead you to believe that this tour is going to talk about the TV Show "Law and Order." While it does, it actually is more about the criminal justice system, crime and punishment. It talked a lot about organized crime, gangsters, and movies made in NY.
The tour finishes two subway stops south of where you start, at Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall station.
Our tour group was only 4 people and I felt that we got exceptional care and attention.

Description
Tour guide Ike Ilkiw was born on the lower east side of New York City in the early 1960s. His family moved to Brooklyn in 1963, and he grew up in the Brooklyn Cypress Hills neighborhood. He worked at various jobs, but was appointed to the to the NYC Transit Police in 1982, and was promoted to the rank of Detective in 1986. It is from his experiences of growing up in New York City and being a NYC Police Detective that he decided to start the NYC Adventure Tours website.

Ike has assisted in television show development and story ideas from Amsterdam (2007) and had his first screen credit with Pelham 123 in 2009.
Please note, this tour is not based on the television show Law & Order. It is a walking tour of Lower Manhattan from a police perspective.
