Handel, Vivaldi and Rameau are among the great baroque composers set to a brilliant new English libretto inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest and A Midsummer Night's Dream in the Metropolitan Opera's delightful fantasy The Enchanted Island. Reprising their roles from the critically acclaimed world-premiere run in 2011-12 are the great Plácido Domingo (Neptune), Susan Graham (Sycorax), David Daniels (Prospero) and Danielle de Niese (Ariel). Britain's celebrated writer-director-composer Jeremy Sams (Amour) devised this enchanting pasticcio, which is chock-full of sprites, sorceresses and love spells gone awry. Learn More

Ramon Vargas was a wonderful Nemerino who really came into his own in Act II--the staging of this production is a little static, and Netrebko did her charming best to bring action to the stage in Act I. The singing was excellent throughout.
Approximate running time is 2 hours and 40 minutes, with one intermission.
