Handel, Vivaldi and Rameau are among the great baroque composers set to a brilliant new English libretto inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest and A Midsummer Night's Dream in the Metropolitan Opera's delightful fantasy The Enchanted Island. Reprising their roles from the critically acclaimed world-premiere run in 2011-12 are the great Plácido Domingo (Neptune), Susan Graham (Sycorax), David Daniels (Prospero) and Danielle de Niese (Ariel). Britain's celebrated writer-director-composer Jeremy Sams (Amour) devised this enchanting pasticcio, which is chock-full of sprites, sorceresses and love spells gone awry. Learn More
I wore Dress to your own taste and comfort. All can be seen from the most elegant to very casual. Regardless of weather, it is good to have layers as simple as a scarf or shawl that you can use to make yourself comfortable in any theater, but I have always found Lincoln Center venues to be well adjusted..dress • Jan 27 2014 star this tip starred
Public transportation is very convenient. I prefer to walk up from Penn Station, and even later at night, if you can endure all else that Times Square entails, the activity ensures it not being desolate for a walk back. That said, due to the length of performance, the LIRR schedule was not accommodating on my return, even having expedited by subway.travel • Jan 27 2014 star this tip starred

While I do love theater,i found out that operas are on a different level. It was quite long and you have to be very patient when reading the language which could be GERMAN,FRENCH OR POSSIBLY ITALIAN. Most people enjoyed the champagne.
Approximate running time is 3 hours, 15 minutes with two intermissions.
Sung in Italian with Met titles in English, German, Italian and Spanish.
Rising tenor Bryan Hymel sings Pinkerton. Philippe Auguin conducts.
Madama Butterfly is a co-production of the Metropolitan Opera, English National Opera, and the Lithuanian National Opera.
