Description

Nati Cano was born in Jalisco, Mexico and spent his early years playing the violin alongside his father in local cantinas. After moving to Los Angeles, Nati founded Mariachi Los Camperos out of a desire to bring Mariachi music away from the stereotypical image of the ‘50s and ‘60s and establish it as an art form worthy of world-wide recognition. The group has recorded nine albums since its inception and has performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and the White House. They collaborated with Linda Ronstadt on her albums Canciones de Mi Padre and Mas Canciones, in 1989 Nati received the National Heritage Fellowship of the National Endowment for the Arts in recognition of his life’s work. The group’s album Amor, Dolor Y Lagrimas was awarded a Grammy for best Mexican regional album in 2009.
